I got into photography towards the end of my senior year in college. I would bike around with my roommate throughout the city of Albany on borrowed BMX bikes with my camera in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Once I saw something that caught my eye, I'd slam on my brakes, stop, and shoot. Since then, I have moved from bike's in albany to swift movement of my legs throughout the streets of new york city. I lived there for 2 years and within those years I have explored the streets, got lost in the graffiti, and created an eye for urban culture.
During those years of city livin', I explored the world. I traveled to Turkey and I took a month long road trip throughout the United States. In Turkey, I visited Istanbul and ventured throughout the neighboring hoods and cities. I gasped at the Topkapi Palace, laughed at the cab fares, and cried at the beauty of the Bosphorus. I wandered in the Grand Bazaar and stared at random rear-ends of manicans. I captured moments in Turkey I didn't even know I was capable of doing. For instance, the spread-out wings of the seagull as it was being fed out on the water. During this time, I practiced portraiture and landscape photography.
In the states, me and 3 others drove straight out to Boulder, CO where our trek of the midwest began. Our goal was to see all national parks and all live music that was in our line of travel. Unfortunately, we heard not one sound of live dub. Don't worry though because all of the sites we saw totally replaced our musical interests. We went through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota. Within those states we saw 10 national parks and 6 major cities. We spent 600 bucks on gas, EACH, and drove 10,000 miles. The trip lasted approximately 1 month and 2 days and it was absolutely amazing. My love for western life started when I saw Wyoming. I'd love to move out there and live on a ranch, although... I cannot foresee that anywhere in my future, haha. To fill that void in my life to come, I watch and read western classics =). During this time, practiced solely landscape.
Now, as far as my intentions for a photographer go... I have no idea what they'd be. I'm still learning and taking classes to improve my technical skill and knowledge and practicing on my eye. With that, I will soon hope to find which field suits me more: portraiture, landscape, etc. I'm in no hurry though, I am having fun =)
I hope you enjoy my pictures!
